chapter 1: The king and the thief

The two horses had run as fast as they could. Dragging the small chariot, they crossed the desert beneath a hot sun. The warrior that was standing on the chariot had been traveling for some hours now and he halted his horses to give them some rest. He loved those rides, nothing to worry about, no kingdom to rule and no guards to keep him in track. There was no war and the country was in prosperity. For once, Ramsesses was finally free. The Pharaoh stepped into the hot sand and walked over to a rocky area. He was wearing his scale armour and had his kopesh sword, bow and arrow and piercing axe with him, just to be shure. Ramses suddenly saw something shining and walked up to it to investigate. As he walked close to it, he noticed that a green stone was stuck between the rocks. A rattlesnake crawled over some rocks beside the green stone and crawled on it. The rattlesnake suddenly halted and stared at the the warrior. The snake rattled his tail and slowly made ready to attack. Seconds later, the snake tried to bite the pharaoh while the man swung his khopesh and chopped the head of the snake off the body.

Ramses knelt down and spoke a quick apology to Wadjet for killing one of her bretheren. He then took the green stone from the rocks and rubbed the snakeblood off. As Ramses held the stone, it suddenly began to shine very brightly green and turned bloodred. The pharaoh dropped the stone in shock but after seeing the red stone on the ground doing nothing, he collected it again. He studied the strange stone carefully and wondered what god had created this. And more important, for what purpose. Ramsesses placed the crystal in a pouch and stepped onto his chariot. He would return home and ask the priest of Ra advice on this strange stone. Maybe they knew what god had placed it on his path.
As he raced through the hot desertsand, a tremble could be felt in the earth and before Ramses knew it, a sudden light  hit him.

Ramses opened his eyes, his head hurt a bit and the two horses blew out some wind. It was somehow colder all of a sudden and it was not sand he was lying in but hard stone.
'Where am I' the pharaoh asked himself. The desert was nowhere to be found. Somehow the gods had transported him, the horses and the chariot in a strange place. There was a stone flour on the ground, strange buildings to the side and a cold air. This was not Egypt.
Ramses saw three buildings that he could identify as houses and some other buildings that he could not place. The whole area looked deserted.
Remembering the stone, Ramses took it from his pouch and saw that the strange stone had turned green again.
The pharaoh took his piercing axe and left his chariot to investigate these strange houses. Inside, he found that nobody was there and after calling out a few times there were still no sounds. What he saw were signs of struggle, one of them being blood everywhere.
Ramses quickly checked the other two houses but saw the same signs. There has been fighting. He walked up to his chariot again and started riding, looking for a place with people to ask where he was. They could maybe tell what games the gods were playing with him.

As he was riding, the pharaoh saw a man running his way. The man was wearing strange clothing that covered his while body, he had an unusual hat and the man sported an black unkept beard. The strange man signed to Ramses to come near and soon the man jumped on the chariot. 'Now Flee!' The strange man yelled.
Just after the man had yelled in the ear of the Egyptian, two creatures appeared and started running towards the two. Not wanting to find out what these were, Ramses turned the chariot and gave the horses the command run.
The two black steeds raced as hard as they could through an grassy field but the two beasts were slowly gaining on them. 'Who are you?' The pharaoh asked the stranger while they tried to escape. 'The name is Pete.' The pirate spoke while he took a blunderbuss and aimed it at the monsters. He then fired.
The sounds and smoke suprised the Egyptian, who had never encountered such a weapon. Ramses lost control over the chariot and the two of them jumped out before it crashed.

The werewolfs were now almost on top of the two warriors and Pete fired his flintlock pistol. The metal ball flew out of the gun and hit a werewolf direct in the face. The werewolf flew backwards as if it bounced off an invisible wall and did not move. The other werewolf ran past the pirate and and aimed its claws at the chest of the Egypt born warrior. As the monster came near, Ramses aimed his piercing axe at it and when the monster tried to grab him, he forced his weapon in the chest of the creature. Due to the full weight of the monster hitting him, Ramses got blown off his feet.
The monster was dead. At least, Ramses hoped it was, otherwise he would not be covered in so much blood. The pharaoh stood up slowly and noticed that the large and sharp nails of the monster had slashed his chest armour but not penetrated it. Now he had a good look at the monster, he saw that it looked a bit like Anubis. Maybe these two monsters were send by that god, but for what purpose?
'They are dead.' Pete suddenly said. 'I can see that' was the answer of Ramses. 'I mean the horses you fucker. The horses died in the little crash of yours' The pirate spoke, not caring who he was talking too.
The answer came quick. 'You used that magical machine that made a lot of sounds and some sort of burning smell. Both the horses and I got confused by such a weapon. Who are you anyway?' The pharaoh finished with a question. 'Sir there is lots to talk about' The pirate spoke.

Some time later, the two warriors had made camp on a field and the pirate was telling his story to the amazed pharaoh. 'Like I said, I am Pete. I deal in stuff that used to belong to others and collect that stuff as captain on my very own ship.' 'A Pirate' Ramses spoke. 'Well yes, that name has been thrown to me a few times yes.' The pirate spoke. Then he continued. Anywayss, i was there on an island and I found a strange green crystal. I put it in my pocket and forgot all about it. That night, i slept on my ship as always and as soon as I woke up, gone ship, gone crew and gone bloody fucking sea. I only had the stuff that i was carring with me at the time. My weapons, a few bags of gunpowder and the bullets ofcourse. Then those werewolfs showed up and...' 'Werewolfs' Ramses asked, interrupting the pirate. Before the latter could answer, they heard sounds as if someone was close by them. Ramses grabbed his bow and an arrow and aimed it at the location of the sound while Pete had his pistol already aimed.

  1. Pretty darn cool here, interesting how you introduce the warriors one by one through using a frame story. I'm looking forward to knowing the story behind the green stones!

  2. Excellent start, man! I love the interaction between Pete the Pirate and Ramses here. Didn't think these guys would team up so quickly, but tough times..

I'm also amazed how quickly they killed the werewolves. Normally, they'd be harder to kill.

I can't wait to see what happens next! :D

  4. @ Madness. The werewolfs are the most easy to kill and ofcourse there was a lot of luck involved. Next battles might be harder.

    for the rest thanks.

I really love the pirate guy ;) Pete! Pete the Pirate! Lol, nice man my man :D

Great fight with the werewolves. Hopefully in the upcoming chapters we can see more of their strenghs as here we see their weaknesses: that they have the same flaws as a deadly animal like a bear. tHough much smarter.
