Chapter 7: Traitors

All the members of the party were sleeping this night. After a whole day of feasting, the group spend most of the second day to talk about everything that the strange man had said and create a plan on which way to go and how to fight these beasts. In the evening, everyone had fallen to sleep. They had been tired to the bones and everybody knew that they might get little sleep the next few days.
During the night, Pete suddenly woke up. The pirate had been drinking a lot these past two days and he needed to take a piss. The man walked towards the door without waking anybody up and opened the door. The cold air swept through the room and the captain quickly stepped outside and closed the door again. After doing his buisness against the wall of the building, the man walked inside again. Ramses and Ivan lay with their heads on the table while Musashi had found another table to lie on. Aves lay on the ground in the corner of the room and John was sleeping near a counter. To his suprise, Pete noticed that the boy was not wearing the heavy armour this night and instead was wearing a tunic and braies.
Pete smiled as he got an idea. The boy had denied sleeping with the pirate the last two days and finally Pete saw an oppertunity. Maybe the boy would not notice and even if the boy would notice, Pete knew that the boy would like it. Pete was a great lover after all.
The captain silently sat down next to the boy and slipped his hand in the braies, as he moved down, he suddenly noticed something but before he could realise it, the boy suddenly screamed and kicked him away.
The next moment was chaotic as the rest of the warriors suddenly woke up and searched for a weapons while John stood up with his arming sword.
'What is happening here?' Ramses yelled with a booming voice. 'He tried to rape me' John spoke while still keeping his sword aimed at Pete.
As everybody was waiting for an explanation, Pete suddenly spoke out. 'He has been lying to us. He is not an he. He is a she.' Now the attention of everybody turned to John. 'What...I..I..I am a boy' he said with a soft voice.' 'Prove it' Pete said. 'Lower your pants and prove it' he spoke again as he tried to do this himself. 'Enough' the pharaoh yelled as the strong hands of Miyamoto grabbed the pirate to stop him.'
The Egyptian then turned his attention to John. 'If there is something you need to say, say it now. That will be best for all.'
John went silent for a moment and knew that telling the truth was the only option.
'Very well. I am not John and I am not a boy' she spoke out. 'To be fair, I am a girl named Joan. Everything else is correct. I did hear the angels and I did fight the English. I just hid my gender because I was afraid that you would take advantage of me' she spoke.
'I actually fancied you more as a guy to be honest.'  The spartan spoke.

The next hour, the group discussed on what happened and altough the group did not like being fooled this way, they understood the need of Joan. They would also forget what had happened and it was made very clear to Pete that nobody was to touch her on the pain of death.
The group spend the following morning walking. When they reached a farm the group sat down to get something to eat.
As the others were sitting down, Miyamoto was walking around. He knew he had heard something, he was only not shure about what he had heard. As the samurai was following the sounds, he noticed they came from a bolted barn. He unbolted it and when he opened it, Miyamoto saw a lot of zombies. That must have been around fifty of them. The zombies, seeing the light, walked towards the exit and arrived there before Musashi could lock the door again. He ran towards the group and quickly explained that he had encountered too much zombies to fight and it would be better to run.
The group did not ask where these creatures came from and instead started to run.
As the group kept on running, they noticed that the zombies were not easily shaken off and that there were indeed too much to fight.

'Pete, Ivan'  Ramses said. 'Take those magical weapons and see how much you can take out or distract as we go look what to do' The two warriors grabbed their weapons and started firing on the zombies.
'We can fight them'  Aves spoke. 'No. there are too many of them. We would not have a chance' Joan countered. 'Then we must hope we can distract them somehow' the Pharaoh spoke.
'They are too close to reload for us' Pete yelled out. The zombies had indeed come a lot closer and were almost upon the warriors. 'I do not know what you think but we will be dead soon if the creatures come any closer.' Ivan spoke to Pete. 'I am not willingly to die for them and I am going to run. You seem like a smart man, you can either join me or die with them' he spoke softly so only Pete could hear.
Pete knew that what the prince of Moscow said was true and after what had happend last night, Pete would not like to die with the others either. Running was suddenly a great idea and Pete nodded to indicate that he agreed. The two men stared at each other and as Pete fired one final shot, the two men started to run away from the group into another direction.
The others noticed the two man running away all of a sudden but apart for yelling at them, the last four people could not do anything as the zombie horde was almost upon them.

It was on that moment that Miyamoto Musashi came with an idea. He had released the zombies and it was his fault if all of them would die here. Miyamoto had tried to be fair in his own way all his life. Other people had disagreed with him and not treated him very well for it, he had caused a lot of people pain and now he had done it again. There was only one thing a real samurai could do on this moment.
'Run' he suddenly spoke. The other watched him and Ramses asked what the other two were thinking. 'What are you going to do?' 'Miyamoto spoke out while pulling his katana and wakizashi out of the sheaths. 'Distraction' 'Now run' he added before he charged into the group of zombies.
The others knew that they had to run and not let the sacrevice be in vain. The three warriors that were left kept on running, not looking back untill they were all to tired to continue. No signs of zombies and also no sign of Miyamoto Musashi.

Sun Tsu walked down a long road and when he got tired, he sat down to relax. He was not shure how long he had been here on this strange world. He only knew that everyday was a day too long.
Sun Tsu knew exactly what had happened before he got here on this strange world. He was only unshure about how.
It all started on a sunny morning. He had just finished a chapter on his book. A book that held all sort of strategy's that he had learned to use as a general. Sun Tsu did not care about his ideas being revolutionary, he just hoped that the book would be a good tool for those who studied the arts of war.
As the ink was drying, one of his students had asked for information on a stone. The young man had found the green stone on the ground and altough it looked like a normal crystal, it had an odd feeling about it.
Intrigued about this special stone, Sun Tsu was very interested in it and he was dissapointed that the young student did not have the stone with him at the moment. The young student promised to bring the stone back later and Sun Tsu had waited patiently because patience was a value suited for every situation.

Sun Tsu had been training when the young student came back with this special stone. Due to his training, the master had been wearing his leather armour and had the weapons that he had been training with, with him. Sun Tsu could never have guesses that those three weapons would turn out to be very important for him later on. His jian sword, his Ji halberd and his crossbow. The green crystal was interesting indeed and it gave Sun Tsu a special feeling. The Chinese master was unshure about how to describe this odd feeling and when the student had left, the crystal had turned red.
Seconds later, Sun Tsu woke up in this strange world, the stone still in his hands.
On this strange world, he met king Alexander and Gaius Julius Ceasar. King Alexander was a bit cocky but that Ceasar was someone who Sun Tsu really liked. The next warrior they had met, a darkskinned man with a strange name was very agressive and would not listen untill Alexander had beaten him in a duel. This black man was someone Sun Tsu did not like at all.
A few days after meeting that Azande warrior, they met up with another group of warriors. Trying to bring the two groups together was what Sun Tsu was regretting now.

The man took the stone out of his pocket. As he held the stone, he realised that the strange feeling did not bother him anymore. It was just a strange stone now. Sun Tsu watched the stone for a few seconds more before putting it back. He hoped that he would find the way to get out of here in the stone. Sun Tsu as the warrior and philosopher that he was, had already plannend to write several things on this strange world and these strange creatures and he was planning on adding a chapter on them in his book about warfare.
That was all for the future, he had to find some people first because he knew that there must be others who were like him trapped upon this world.

The four friends walked through another deserted town. it had been dark for some time now.  The town looked like a battle has been fought here with most of the houses lying in ruines. As Hannibal picked up a brick, Cochise moved his hand in the air. The other three warriors had gotten to know this signal as a sign that something was wrong.
The Apache warrior himself took his bow out and fitted it with an arrow while Saladin drew his scimitar. Halgar took his battleaxe and shield while Hannibal dropped the brick and took his falcata.
Cochise walked up to a house and motioned that somebody was in the back of it when they suddeny heard screaming. The scream was clearly that of a man and the warriors hurried themself to the sound. A man lay on the groud and and a vampire hovered above him. There went a shock trough Saladin as he saw who the man was that lay on the ground. It was the strange warrior he and Cochise had met earlier and who had insulted him.
'No matter what happened before, we must rescue a fellow human' the Muslim warrior spoke to the native as the latter regarded him with a suprised look. The Kurdish warrior moved for the others to move closer and then spoke.
Cochise aimed his arrow at the head of the monster. Saladin had said that the head was the weakness of those monsters and that an arrow to the head might do the job. If not, there was a plan B. Before the Apache could fire his bow, he had to wait for the other warriors to set up.
The viking and the carthagian warrior walked up to the vampire, Halvar had his axe and shield ready while Hannibal had put his trust into a sword and shield combination. The warriors  defended the downed warrior and absorbed attacks with their shields while Saladin pulled the man away. When the man was gone, the two warriors attacked the vampire with their weapons first and then used their shields to push the vampire away.
As the opponent got pushed away, the two warriors ducked away to give room for Kochise who shot his arrow and forced it into the throat of the opponent.
The vampire yelled after the arrow hit his lungs. Even though he yelled, he kept going. The Apache was cursing for such a miss and had another arrow nocked before the leader called for a plan B.
The vampire walked towards the Apache, wanting to revenge the arrow to the throat.
Hannibal and Halgar waited untill they were behind the vampire and then jumped on the back of the monster and forced him on the knees. Then Salah ad-dinn came in to behead the vampire.
When the head rolled away, they knew they were save.
Before anybody could do anything, Cochise grabbed the man and his knife. 'First you threaten my friend here, then you suddenly need help. What is your deal?' They all watched on what answer the man would give.
'I am sorry about that.' He began. 'My name is Vlad and I was just confused. Your friend looked like an opponent I had fought several times in my life and I had no reason to trust him. i thought I could handle things alone but i was wrong.' The man said. Vlad waited waited for a second before going on. 'I encountered a portal that can bring us home and i was searching for you guys to tell you about it. I meant that as apology but i ran into that vampire.' When the viking asked what the thing was, Vlad told about the vampires.
After some talking and discussing, the group decided to forgive Vlad Tepes and to let him guide them to the cave he talked about.

Some time later, the group arrived at the spot where Vlad had seen the portal and they walked in.
When they were deep in the cave, the saw a dead end.
'What the' Hannibal said as the group looked at each other. It was on that moment that they realised that Vlad was gone.
'Hello guys' Vlad spoke with a smile as he suddenly appeared from the enterence. 'You did not really think killing an vampire was that easy did you?' Along with him were two werewolfs and a vampire. 'May I introduce you to Estess, the vampire I work with.' Vlad finished, now grinning. 'You!' Halgar yelled in anger as he charged the traitor with his batteaxe and shield in hands.
'Go my hounds' came the answer of Estess.
The viking and two werewolfs hit each other and it was hard to see anything with all that fur. Halgar slashed at one werewolf with his axe while he pushed the other away with his shield. After some fighting, the viking managed to kill one of his two opponents with an axe in the face but had to drop his shield. He then drew his longsword to duel the last werewolf.
The two warriors struggled in a battle and after some fighting, Halgar managed to thrust his sword into the
chest of its opponent. The warrior pulled his sword back and before he he could attack again, he got bitten. The werewolf died when the sword slashed its throat but after that, the viking yelled out an inhuman scream. He then slowly changed into a werewolf himelf, screaming every step of the way.
When Halver was turned completely, he turned himself towards his former friend and ran towards them. The new werewolf ran towards his former friends and attacked Hannibal.
on the other side, Saladin was in a hard battle with Vlad.

The battle between Hannibal and the werewolf was tough with the werewolf using his newfound strenght and speed to his advantage, only to have Hannibal counter it with his shield and sword. Hannibal slashed with his sword scoring a deep cut in the chest of the beast, only for the former Viking to throw Hannibal against a wall. As Hannibal Barca tried to stand up, the werewolf jumped forwards and slashed the face of the warrior with his claws several times to turn it into mush. Before Hannibal died, he managed to slash the beast in the throat. The werewolf tried to stand up again as it bled but the Apache jumped on him and delivered several headcrushing attacks on the beast with his tomahawk.

Saladin and Vlad fought a vicious battle with two curved swords. The brutal duel of scimitar versus kilij was fought with both blood and sweat. Saladin managed to get an edge on his opponent but saw his native friend looking for a way out. Knowing he could not survive this battle, the Muslim leader attacked the vampire.
The angry vampire countered the swordfighter and both he and Vlad could corner Salah Ad-dinn with ease. As both opponents had their eyes turned at the Arabic warrior, Cochise saw his chance and sneaked past them. As he was near the exit of the cave, he started running.

Saladin and Estess were battling, with Estess using his claws to push Saladin on the defence. This was one vampire not easily beaten and a lot tougher then the last one. Beheading would not work this time. During the fighting, Vlad picked up the handcannon that the vampire had brought for him and fired it, killing Saladin with a headshot.
' Now they are all dead, will you turn me into a vampire?' Vlad asked the vampire. 'Or at least give me a place in your army?' The vampire laughed as he walked towards the longsword that lay on the ground. He picked it up and moved towards the human. 'kneel' he spoke. Vlad kneeled and Estess walked towards him.'You humans are stupid. Do you really think that you would ever become a vampire or that the master would grand you anything?' As Vlad looked up with a suprised look, Estess rammed the sword in the mouth of the grand prince of Wallachia.

After Estess had completed his final task, he looked around satisfied with the bloodbath. Suddenly he realised that one of the humans was missing. Instead of five body's there were only four and Estess knew that the last one escaped.
He considered returning to the master but then he thought about the punishment he would get if Nostro found out and he ran to look for the missing one.

Cochise ran as fast as he could but he saw the monster coming near. The vampire was getting closer every minute and the Apache fired several arrows without much effect. The vampire tackled him and Cochise fell on the ground. He reached for his knife and tomahawk to get the vampire away from him as the sun suddenly came up.
Estess looked up and saw the day arriving. Knowing he needed a hidingplace, the vampire left his target and tried to flee back towards the cave. It was too late and when the sunlight hit the vampire, he burst into fire. Soon fire had swallowed Estess completely untill there was nothing but ashes left of the monster.

2 opmerkingen:

  1. Well, that was an interesting way to have Joan's sex exposed. And I am probably one of the few to get the Spartan joke !

Nice walking dead reference with the barn.

I knew Vlad would betray them, and four more bodies to join the previous seven!Good to see that he got what he deserved in the end though.

  2. Nice :D I love how the Spartan was hotter for Joan as a boy ;) Ah, what does Frank Miller know?

Great fight here and it looks like Prince Vlad's betrayal went right around and bit him in the ass :D Good! And then the Viking becomes a werewolf, which is profoundly fitting I must say.

And there are fewer and fewer, the stakes rise with every turn ;D
